Can Kerry Win Sam this Year? Yes they Can!!

With one round of the national league left against Down tomorrow in Killarney, Kerry fans will be thinking ahead to the Championship. If Cork draw or lose to Armagh and Kerry beat Down they will be facing Dublin in the National League Final.

After two one point loses to Cork and Dublin early in the league it looked like it was going to be a battle for survival but they rebounded in true Kerry style to win the next few games very convincingly and one would think that Jack O'Connor will be very happy with how the league campanign has gone.

Considering retirements and injuries it looked like it was going to be a very difficult league. But some new players have fitted in very well and performed very well indeed.

Lets look at these players!

David Moran who has been in the panel for a few years now and really failed to deliver consistently really stepped up to the mark with some great displays, this is a guy with bundles of talent, but talent alone is not enough at this level, hunger and desire is also very important but in fairness to him he looked like nailing down a midfield slot for the Championship until a cruel twist left him with a torn cruciate ligament and out for the season...really tough on him!!

Shane Enright has been the find of the League, for his first year he has fitted in like a veteran and delivered very well in all the games he played, he is another who should nail down a place for the Championship.

Jonathan Lyne is another newcomer to the senior setup and for the few games he played looks a very promising player with plenty of pace and likes to attack.

David and Paul Geaney are two who have shown plenty of promise, both naturally talented footballers who will give Jack plenty of food for though when it comes to picking his forwards.

Kerin O'Leary has been in the panel now for a few years and limited to some league games and coming on as a sub in some Championship matches, but in fairness to the lad he seems to have upped his game this year.

Barry John Keane had his campaign cut very short with a ridiculous suspension, he is a player with a great drive and hunger and well able to kick points, he really needed a good league under his belt this year so he remains to be seen how far away he is from a starting place.

So it does look pretty healthy for the Championship, we still have some of the best footballers in the Country on the team, the two O'Shea brothers are two of the finest ever to wear the Green and Gold, The Gooch is on fire, Paul Galvin and Declan O'Sullivan would walk onto any team and Kerin Donaghy is still the best full forward in the game!!

Mix in the likes of Mr Consistent Killian Young, Darren O'Sullivan, Tom Sullivan, Aidan O'Mahony, Padraig Reidy, Anthony Maher and Eoin Brosnan and Bryan Sheehan.

So I think that we really could have Sam home again this year, looking at the opposition it looks like the other Counties that will be in the shake up will be Dublin and Cork but really think Kerry will do the business this year!!
