Is Your Business Using Social Media

Social Media now plays a huge part for businesses to engage with their customers. This can be a cost effective part in any businesses marketing and advertising campaign. Recently we had the privilege at thebestof of a webiner with Mari Smith who is described by many at ''The Pied Piper'' of the social Madia world. Mari can be followed on both Twitter and Facebook.

To show how some companies are moving away from traditional forms of advertising lets have a look at Pepsi, Pepsi are a huge company in global terms and have always spent big in their marketing campaigns. For the first time in over twenty years Pepsi will not have ads at ''The Super Bowl''. The Super Bowl is one of the most watched shows in the USA and instead Pepsi are spending $20 million on a social media campaign it’s calling The Pepsi Refresh Project.

Such a large move is noteworthy for any company, however Pepsi’s symbiotic relationship with the Super Bowl makes this shift to new media that much more seismic. ABC News notes that Pepsi spent in excess of $140 million on Super Bowl ads over the last decade. Pepsi’s ads are often some of the most iconic, and the company has historically pulled out all the stops for the Super Bowl. Now just because Pepsi are a large mulit national company and they are shifting more towards social media it does not mean Kerry businesses should shy away from exploring ways for social media to help them. Social Media is here to stay so embrace it and learn how to use its power effectively.
