The Great Generosity of Kerry People

I have been sitting here working all evening on the computer while also trying to come up with an idea for a "Blog Post" and coming to a dead end all evening until I checked my facebook page and saw my friend Orlagh Winters sporting her new hair style, now let me explain, Orlagh was recently diagnosed with breast cancer but instead of going all negative and feeling sorry (which is totally understandable) she is using all her positive energy and is tackling this head on, she is a very inspirational woman and always so positive. She is currently undergoing chemo but also extremely busy orgainising a "Breast Cancer Awareness" fundraiser in the Blasket bar in Tralee on July 3rd. Orlagh who married my good friend George last July was also on Kerry Radio during the week speaking about her current situation, she really is an inspiration to all and is working so hard to make the fundraiser a major success which im sure it will. Odity a Galway band that played at their wedding last July in Loughrea will be playing on the evening of the 3rd and along with pink champagne being served it should raise alot of money for this great cause.

Orlagh has also set up an online facility where people who can't make it on the night can donate online, click HERE. There has been a very substantial amount donated already and in there difficult economic times the Generosity of people is amazing, Kerry people are amazing when it comes to donating for a worthy cause, it is not easy but everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another and it does strike to the heart of most people.

Another cause which has been generating alot of fundraising activities recently is Bee for Battens, anyone who saw the Late Late Show a few months ago about the Heffernan family from Keel whose two children have this very rare disease would have been really moved. This very rare disease means Saoirse(4) and Liam(1) only hope of survival is going to the US for 2nd generation medical trials, this is their only glimmer of hope as this disease is fatal. The Heffernan family have to raise substantial funds in order to get these trials, so far there have been numerous fundraisers throughout Kerry and the generosity of people has been unbelievable.

So maybe this post might get a few more euro raised for these two great causes.
