Winter can be pretty inclement on the Dingle Peninsula, but there's a cosy view from The Oyster Tavern in The Spa, on the Tralee to Fenit road. This bar and restaurant dosen't look much from without, but inside I find stripwood panelling, heritage colours and a cabinet containing antique bierkrugs, glassware and sporting memorabilia (including signed GAA balls)
I order fish pie from the bar menu (€13.95) and it comes in a large shallow dish with a puffy layer of mash topped by a crust of grilled Chedder cheese. The mash gives way to a mix of salmon, cod and mussels, with scallions and a thick white sauce binding it all together.
Its comfort food from the deep, fine fare for an Autumn evening, served with a scoop of salad and chips. My pie was extroardinarily hot, however, so be careful of little mouths.................
We love the food in The Oyster Tavern, we always try and go their for a meal when in Kerry, their seafood is just delicious and the service is really excellent. The seafood chowder there is a meal in its own!

We were very impressed on our recent visit to the Oyster Tavern Restaurant, the menu choice was excellent for both the food and the wine, the food we recieved was of the highest quality and when we are back in Kerry we will call again, highly recommended.
The Oyster Tavern is a superb seafood restaurant, we really love the Sunday Lunch offering a great choice and excellent value. Jim Mc Grath is an absolute gentleman and is always so welcoming to everyone who comes into his place.
We were in Kerry recently and found the Oyster Tavern on this site, the best of Kerry, we love seafood and were very impressed with both the menu and fabulous seafood dishes we got, the crab claws were just delicious and so was the monkfish. We would highly recommend this great restaurant, the staff were also really nice and friendly and a good athmosphere in the bar area, also plenty of parking outside.
My family and I were on vacation from NY and had a fabulous meal at the Oyster Tavern. The service was exceptional and the food was just amazing! The crab claws are a must have!!
We have our sunday lunch on a regular basis in the oyster tavern, you will not leave feeling hungry as they dish up big portions of great food and the 4 course sunday lunch is great value at €21.95.
The Oyster Tavern is one of my favourite restaurants in Kerry, the food is always excellent and the staff also very friendly. There is also a great athmosphere in the bar and would highly recommend this restaurant.
