All across Ireland there will be a whole host of things programmed over the 10 day event. You can expect lectures, workshops, open days, guided walks, tours and much more.

There is a nice range of events planned in the Naas area with something that should appeal to everyone. In Punchestown racecourse they are putting on an Irish Draught Horse show where you can come and see the native Irish breed and watch them compete. There is a small fee of €5 for adults but children are free.

In Naas Town Hall there will be a presentation highlighting the growth of the Railway in Kildare. This talk is very much keeping in line with the theme of this year’s National Heritage Week “Discovering Ireland’s Industrial Past”.

In Clane there is a talk on the growth of the Comhalthas Ceoltoiri Eireann which is being presented by the Local History Group. A great evening for those who are passionate about traditional Irish music and dancing. The Vintage and Antiques Centre are hosting an art exhibition with photographs on the macro wildlife that lives beneath our feet. Also available in Clane will be a tour of Clongowes Wood College. With it dating back over two hundred years you can get a tour and see the changes and unique details of the building and its surrounding grounds.

If none of this strikes your fancy why not check out what is going on in other parts of Kildare by clicking this link, you may find something for you and the family.

Going further afield and want to know if there is anything near you visit the National Heritage Week website and you will be sure to find something that suits.
