Valentine’s Day is a festival of love, celebrating romantic love, friendship and admiration. Historically, the month of February has always been celebrated as a month of romance due to Christian and ancient Roman tradition.

Contrary to popular belief, Valentine’s Day isn’t just a celebration of romance but a celebration of those who are important in your life, including friends and family. Here is a list of “What’s On” in Dublin South for those of you who are in a romantic relationship, who are single or those who hate Valentine’s Day altogether.

Date Night

  • Spring Harvest Dinner at Ink Café in DLR Lexicon. Six course meal of Irish seasonal food, fully sustainable and zero waste. Prosecco on arrival.
  • Valentine’s Day Dinner at Airfield Estate Dundrum. Specially-crafted set menu created by Chef Luke Matthews. 5-course meal made up of the best seasonal ingredients sourced from Airfield’s organic food gardens and urban farm supplemented with ingredients from trusted local suppliers

Valentine’s Day and you’re single?

  • Celebrate with your girl pals this Valentines at FIRE Restaurant and Lounge for an incredible gin evening in association with Drumshambo Gunpowder Irish Gin. G&T on arrival, gin masterclass, dinner paired with a G&T and a ‘Gunpowder Mess’ dessert created with the star of the night,  Drumshambo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
  • The Late Late Show are looking for single members of the audience for their Valentine's Day Special. Ryan Tubridy invites "eligible lads and ladies who aren't camera shy, are game for a laugh and who are, most importantly, definitely looking for love" to join him on February 14 for "probably the most bonkers show in The Late Late Show calendar."

Valentine’s Day for kids

  • Valentine's kids disco for children under 12. Music and entertainment on the night from a DJ and face painting. Prizes for best dressed, Valentine's themed attire and prizes for best "floss" dance moves! Located in the Party Cabin in the grounds of DLSP Rugby Club, Kilternan, South Dublin.
  • Valentine’s Card Making at Ballyroan Library Encourage your kids to get creative this Valentine’s day and make their very own personalised cards that they can give to their loved ones on the special day. A great way to get kids creative juices flowing while also interacting with other like-minded children their age. This event is for children aged 5-8.
